Why SISU?
SISU is a Finnish word for a state of being when the going gets tough. SISU is strength, determination, stamina, stubbornness and courage that is an innate part of everyone but isn't used all the time.
What better way is there to get in touch with your own inner SISU than competing a ski marathon, half-marathon or tour? It's no big secret that a lot of us folks in Ironwood are of Finnish descent, and that Finnish culture has been maintained for generations. So why SISU? Why the heck not? Ironwood boasts some of the most predictable early season snow conditions out there, so the SISU Ski Fest is now the earliest ski marathon in the region. The Trail starts out on ABR's impeccably groomed trails and heads toward town, finishing in downtown Ironwood. We believe this is going to be a fantastic course and a fun event!
